She has been one of the leading young dramatic sopranos in her field.

Slovenian soprano Rebeka Lokar attended the music school in her hometown of Maribor and refined her technique under the guidance of Italian baritone Mauro Augustini.

As a mezzo-soprano, she received her first engagement as Clotilde|Norma at the Natio-naltheater of Maribor in 2005, followed by further performances as Berta|Il barbiere di Siviglia, Mistress Benson|Lakmé, Marthe|Faust, Lola|Cavalleria rusticana and Mercedes|Carmen, among others.

In 2007 Lokar received a scholarship from the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto and went on tour to Japan and later through Umbria as Tisbe|La Cenerentola.

In 2009 Lokar debuted as Amneris|Aida, Fenena|Nabucco and Maddalena|Rigoletto. In the 2010/11 season she appeared on stage as Flora|La traviata and Giovanna|Rigoletto at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice.

After her change to soprano, Rebeka Lokar made her debut in 2012 as Amelia|Un ballo in maschera under the baton of M° Renato Palumbo at the Teatro Regio in Turin. Shortly afterwards she made her debut as Santuzza|Cavalleria rusticana at the summer festival in Terni, Italy.

Since then she has been one of the leading young dramatic sopranos in her field. Numerous appearances in roles such as Turandot, Leonora|Il trovatore, Leonora|La forza del destino, Abigaille|Nabucco, Madama Butterfly, Mimì|La bohème, Tosca or Minnie|La fanciulla del west have recently taken her to important opera houses such as the Arena di Verona, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the Regio in Turin, the State Opera Maribor, the Regio di Parma, the Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, the Carlo Felice in Genoa, the San Carlo Naples, the Opera de las Palmas, the Palau de les Arts Valencia, the Shanghai Opera House and the Macerata Opera Festival.
